Ground & Ease: A Ganesha Restorative Workshop
Sunday, January 17th, 4-6 pm
Ganesha: the vehicle of consciousness that is gravity. Ground, new beginnings, abundance, the removal of obstacles, protection. We will work with restorative postures to connect to the Muladhara chakra where Ganesha is said to reside. We will connect to his Vedic mantra & through visualization & meditation, welcome & embody his energy. We will end with a sweet yoga nidra practice to cultivate prana & ground ourselves in our bodies again.
Ayurveda & Restorative for Stress & Anxiety
Sunday, February 21st, 4-6 pm
In this day & age, stress and anxiety are something almost every single person experiences. The wisdom of Ayurveda & Restorative Yoga can help support us in creating a state of balance in the body & mind. We will work with restorative postures that ease the Vata energy that is often very high when we feel stress & anxiety. This means cultivating more earth, water & fire elements in the body: lots of props & support, lots of ease & cultivating mental clarity, lots of warmth. We will practice lots of stabilizing pranayama to build our reserves of energy. And we will end with a belly breathing savasana meditation to soothe the vagus nerve.
The Fortress of Mother: A Durga Restorative Workshop
Sunday, March 21st, 4-6 pm
Durga: the vehicle of consciousness that is Mother. Fortitude, strength, courage, unwavering support, ease, karmic transformation. We will work with restorative postures to strengthen & soothe the body: joint support, hip & heart-opening, psoas stretches. We will connect to her Vedic mantra & through visualization & meditation, welcome & embody her energy. We will end with the practice of bhutta shuddhi, fortifying the subtle body with prana.
Ayurvedic Restorative for Depression
Sunday, April 18th, 4-6 pm
Depression is such a common & stigmatized experience. The wisdom of Ayurveda & Restorative Yoga can help support us in creating a state of balance in the body & mind. We will work with restorative postures that uplift the Kapha energy that is often very high when we feel depressed. This means cultivating more fire, air & space elements in the body: lots of warmth, lots of extensions & creating broader spaces in the body in which to feel our breath, & allowing ourselves to explore being open & vulnerable. We will practice lots of warming pranayama that will also support creating better communication between the two sides of the brain. And we will end with shava yatra; a supported breathing meditation for discharging stress & tension from the nervous system.
The Dynamic Stillness: A Shiva Restorative Workshop
Sunday, May 16th, 4-6 pm
Shiva: the vehicle of consciousness that is Dynamic Stillness. The void from which all arises, that vibrates with the potential of everything. Silence, dissolution, destruction, the hush of the mind reabsorbed back into the stillness. We will work with restorative postures to create space in the body; connecting to the limbs, opening the chest & expanding through the lateral body. We will connect to Shiva mantras & through visualization & meditation, welcome & embody his energy. We will end with the practice of Soham pranayama to clear the mind & rest in the stillness.
Ayurvedic Restorative for Digestion
Sunday, June 20th, 4-6 pm
Digestive issues are the bane of many of our existence, and effects or are affected by everything from our stress levels to our diet. The wisdom of Ayurveda & Restorative Yoga can help support us in creating greater balance in our bodies. We will work with restorative postures that bring soothing warmth & ease to the belly: through abdominal compression, gentle restorative twists, and lateral & psoas stretches. We will work on deep belly breaths. We will end with a sweet yoga nidra practice to cultivate prana & rest in our bodies again.
Breathing into 2021 – FREE or Donations Based
ONLINE ONLY
w/ Ginger Smith
Sunday’s 1/10-1/31
6 -7 PM
Breathwork connects us to the present moment. Please join Ginger for a new offering, “Breathing into 2021,” to be shared on four Sunday evenings in the New Year. This yoga series is designed to help students find power, purpose, and resilience in the cultivation of a strong breathing practice.
Each session will begin with focused breathwork known as pranayama, followed by approximately 40 minutes of gentle asana practice. Benefits of pranayama include reduction of stress and high blood pressure, improvement of lung function, enhanced creativity, and cognitive performance, and improved sleep quality. Ginger will share a separate pranayama for each class session. However, these classes are not sequential, so join us for one or all four classes.
With the hope of inspiring a spirit of giving, Ginger is sharing each of these classes free of charge. It is her hope that you would consider making a cash donation to her local yoga community, YogaLove Studio, or that you will pay it forward in a similar manner of generosity by donating your time and talents to others.
To support the studio (suggested donation of $5 for each class), please use Venmo @YogaLove-Studio. Please register for each class at least 15 minutes prior to the start time. Use the FitDEGREE app and Ginger will send you the zoom link before class begins. Namaste loves.
